Our participatory coconut workshop 🌴
Within the Domaine de la Pointe des Châteaux, a farm of more than 7 hectares, La Maison du Coco is nestled in the heart of a coconut grove and a tropical garden. You will discover all the secrets of the "tree of life" coconut palm through our participatory workshop.
This is made up of three parts:

This "Discoveries" workshop is aimed at children as well as adults.
Duration: 2 hours.
Hours: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Workshops in english need to be book at least 48 hrs beforehand and require a minimum of 8 people.
What is the workshop about?
Origin and uses of coconut in Réunion
Discover the origin and the many facets of this jewel of the tropics.
Get to know this palm tree, its benefits and the multiple uses of its fruit, the coconut:
Culinary use (water, nuts, virgin oil, milk, sugar, etc.), cosmetics (soap, massage oil), industrial (brush, rope, charcoal, etc.) and artisanal (hull work, palm weaving, etc.)
A tasting tray will be offered:

coconut sugar made from the sap of coconut blossoms

virgin coconut oil obtained from cold pressing coconuts

water and fresh coconut
Culinary transformations
Pick your coconut, learn how to clean it and break it to extract its flesh
Grate your nut sitting on traditional stools and you're ready for the culinary part
Make your coconut rocks
Squeeze the fresh nut to obtain "coconut milk".
Make your "little coconut punch".

Initiation to coconut weaving
You will learn the basics of this ancestral weaving and make a small decorative object from the palms of the coconut palm.
